Yondr LON1, Slough – 80 Gas Suppression Systems

Client: GBE Converge
Site: Yondr London Campus, Slough
Systems: 80 x FK-5-1-12 Gas Extinguishing Systems | Room Integrity Testing

MEP Fire was appointed by GBE Converge to support the delivery of 80 individual FK-5-1-12 gas extinguishing systems protecting external CEP and RMU modules destined for the Yondr LON1 data centre campus in Slough. The project formed part of a major hyperscale data centre development, with the individual electrical modules manufactured off-site before being transported to their final location at the Slough campus. The scale of the project required a consistent and repeatable approach to suppression installation across a large number of individual protected enclosures.

The project was delivered across multiple locations and stages. Initial mechanical installation of the suppression systems was undertaken in Northern Ireland while the modules were being manufactured, before the completed units were transported to Slough. MEP Fire subsequently attended the final data centre site to complete the cylinder installation and associated works, alongside carrying out room integrity testing of the protected enclosures. Our engineers also supported the replacement of gas cylinders where required during the programme and produced detailed red-line information for each unit, including dimensions, pipework arrangements and isometric details to support the final project documentation.

Delivering 80 separate suppression systems across a modular construction programme required careful coordination, repeatable quality standards and the ability to mobilise engineering support at different stages of the project. The works demonstrate MEP Fire’s ability to support large-scale data centre and critical infrastructure programmes where specialist suppression systems are integrated into prefabricated electrical equipment modules. Following completion, GBE Converge commented: “Quality of work was on a good level and their engineers are very skilled. They created red pen drawings for all units with dimensions, isometric etc., which is very important for this type of installation. They supported us on replacing the gas cylinders and completed all works on time. I would recommend them for other jobs.”
