System: Coincidence Early Warning Aspirating Smoke Detection
MEP Fire was appointed by Infiniti Limited to deliver a specialist early warning fire detection package as part of a wider data centre infrastructure project. The protected environment contained critical IT infrastructure where early identification of a developing fire condition was an important part of the overall protection strategy. Due to the operational importance of the equipment, the project required a detection solution capable of providing a higher level of early warning than would typically be achieved through conventional point detection alone.
Our scope involved the installation of a coincidence-configured aspirating smoke detection system providing continuous air sampling throughout the protected environment. The installation required careful routing and positioning of the aspirating pipework and sampling points to achieve effective coverage while coordinating with the wider mechanical, electrical and data centre infrastructure. The system was delivered as part of a broader turnkey project being undertaken by Infiniti, requiring MEP Fire’s specialist fire detection package to integrate effectively with the surrounding infrastructure and overall fire strategy.
The completed system provides an additional layer of early warning protection for the facility, supporting earlier investigation and intervention should developing smoke conditions be detected. The project demonstrates MEP Fire’s capability to support specialist contractors and data centre providers with dedicated fire protection packages, while working as part of a wider multi-discipline project team. It also highlights our experience delivering specialist detection technologies within environments where system availability, infrastructure resilience and continuity of operation are key considerations.
